MAISON CUEVAS

A house steeped in history.

Summer 1953, the country fair is in full swing at the Chiberta golf course near Biarritz. The Marquis de Cuevas, married to the granddaughter of the wealthy John D . Rockfeller, imagined a fancy dress ball where elephants, dromedaries and international stars were invited. For a time, he abandoned his seaside villa to devote himself to his 3,000 guests, including prima ballerina Zizi Jeanmaire… Inspired by this boundless splendour, decorator Elizabeth Milpied wanted to pay tribute to this carefree era by dramatising every room in this pretty neo-Basque building that has become Maison Cuevas.
